ABOUT THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

The City of Brampton is known for its cultural diversity. Every summer Brampton hosts the city-wide Carabram Frstival. This is held on the second weekend in July and attracts more than 60,000 visitors. Parcipants enjoy song, dance, and food from the many different countries that participate in the event. Brampton Transit provides free shuttle service to all the pavilions, which are set up in designated locations along Queen Street East. The Heritage Theatre features theatrical, musical, and comedy performances from Canadian and International performers. The Brampton Symphony Orchestra also performs here. Local theatre groups stage shows at the Lester B. Pearson Theatre and the Cyril Clark Library Theatre.

The Peel Heritage Complex is comprised of a group of historically significant heritage buildings. Programs at this centre include lectures and workshops in history, art, and culture.

The state-of-the-art Brampton Sports and Entertainment Centre seats over 5000 people. It is the home of the Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League, and the Brampton Excelsiors Senior Lacrosse team. The four ice pads at this centre are also used for public skating, figure skating, and hockey leagues. The City of Brampton operates over 30 recreational facilities that combine to offer a myriad of facilities including gymnasiums, indoor pools, skateboard parks, squash and tennis counrts, skating rinks and curling. Special aerobic and fitness classes are offered at the South Fletcher's Sportplex and the Chinguacousy Wellness Centre. Brampton Transit, GO Transit, and Via Rail all offer service from Brampton's Downtown Transit Centre. Brampton Transit operates 26 routes within the city and runs seven days a week. It provides connecting routes to York Region Transit, Toronto Transit, and the airport.

Brampton shares a municipal border with three of the GTA's largest municipalities: Toronto, Mississauga, and Vaughan. Motorists enjoy quick and easy access to Highway 407, 401, and to Highway 400.
