Newmarket’s historic downtown Main Street shopping district is lined with locally owned shops and restaurants. Some of the many annual events that take place here include Canada Day celebrations, the Fall Festival, and a Christmas Open House Weekend in November. Upper Canada Mall, on Davis Drive east of Yonge Street, is Newmarket’s largest shopping mall, featuring 225 stores and services. For public transit, the area is serviced by York Region Transit, operating bus service along all the major streets. They connect passengers to Newmarket’s business district, shopping centre and community centers. The Newmarket Go Train station is located on Davis Drive, next to the Tannery Mall. It is a one-hour train ride from this station to downtown Toronto’s Union Station. Go buses run from Newmarket to the Finch subway station on the TTC line.
